Northwest Airlines B377 Stratocruiser "Manila", 1:400, Dragon Wings
At the end of World War II, Boeing re-entered the commercial market with a new long-range aircraft, the Stratocruiser (Model 377). It was Boeing's first commercial transport from the Stratoliner and, like its military counterpart, the C-97, was based on the B-29 bomber. He possessed all the speed and technical improvements available to the bombers of the end of the war. Boeing built 56 Stratocruisers between 1947 and 1950, and marked the company's first significant success in selling passenger planes to airlines in other countries.
The B-377 N74601 Stratocruiser Manila was the first 377-10-30 model delivered to Northwest Airlines on July 29, 1949. He faithfully served the airline for ten years before he retired.
