French Naval Aviation received 42 F-8E(FN) Crusaders, which began entering service in 1964. The aircraft were initially assigned to Flottilles 12F and 14F, providing the French Navy with a modern carrier-based supersonic interceptor capable of defending its naval forces against airborne threats. Flottille 14F operated the Crusader for a significant part of the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. In June 1985, the period represented by aircraft Nº39 reproduced by Hobby Master, the F-8E(FN) continued to perform interception and carrier-based air-defence missions for the French Navy.
