Focke-Wulf Fw 200 C-4 Condor, Germany, 1: 144, Altaya
The Focke-Wulf Fw 200 C-4 Condor was one of Germany’s most important long-range aircraft of the Second World War. Originally designed as a transatlantic airliner for Deutsche Lufthansa, the Condor was adapted for military service after the outbreak of the conflict. The C-4 variant introduced improvements in armament, navigation equipment and radar systems, making it an effective maritime reconnaissance and anti-shipping aircraft. Operated mainly by Kampfgeschwader 40, the Fw 200 played a significant role during the Battle of the Atlantic by locating Allied convoys and helping coordinate German U-boat operations. Its long range and operational endurance earned it the Allied nickname "Scourge of the Atlantic". Although increasingly vulnerable to Allied fighters from 1943 onwards, the Condor continued to serve as a maritime patrol, transport and liaison aircraft until the end of the war. The Focke-Wulf Fw 200 remains one of the most distinctive four-engine aircraft developed by the German aviation industry.
