The GTK Boxer GTFz A1 is one of the most advanced wheeled armoured personnel carriers developed for the German Army. Designed by the international ARTEC consortium, it combines outstanding ballistic and mine protection with exceptional mobility and an innovative modular architecture that allows the vehicle to be configured for troop transport, command, ambulance and other specialist missions. The A1 variant received several upgrades for operations in Afghanistan, including additional armour, a raised remote weapon station and the distinctive ISAF camouflage scheme.
This model represents a GTK Boxer GTFz A1 assigned to the German ISAF Contingent Task Force operating in Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan, during 2012. Based at Camp Marmal within Regional Command North, German forces conducted patrols, convoy escort, base security and support missions alongside Afghan security forces. The Boxer proved highly effective against improvised explosive devices (IEDs), providing excellent crew protection and confirming its reputation as one of the most capable wheeled armoured vehicles fielded by the Bundeswehr in overseas operations
