Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIC, F/O William W. McConnell, 1:72, Corgi
The Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIC was one of the most heavily armed versions of Britain's famous World War II fighter. Equipped with four 20 mm Hispano cannons, it replaced the machine-gun armament of earlier variants and became an effective air superiority and ground-attack aircraft. Although often overshadowed by the Supermarine Spitfire, the Hurricane served in virtually every theatre of the war and earned a reputation for ruggedness, ease of maintenance and an exceptional ability to absorb battle damage while remaining operational.
This model depicts the Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIC flown by Flying Officer William W. McConnell, one of the Royal Air Force pilots who fought during the later years of the Second World War. His aircraft carried out escort, interception and tactical support missions over occupied Europe, demonstrating the Hurricane's continued effectiveness even after newer fighters entered service. Its reliability and formidable firepower ensured that the Mk.IIC remained a highly respected combat aircraft until the end of the war.
