Nieuport 11 Bébé, Tenente Francesco Baracca, Udine, 1916, 1:48, Carousel 1
The Nieuport 11 “Bébé” was one of the most important Allied fighters of the early years of the First World War. Small, lightweight and highly manoeuvrable, it served with several Allied air arms, including the Italian military aviation service.
Francesco Baracca became Italy's leading fighter ace of the First World War, officially credited with 34 aerial victories. He flew the Nieuport 11 during 1916 and scored his first victories with the type. Baracca's famous prancing horse emblem would later, with modifications, become the symbol used by Ferrari.
