Sikorsky HH-60G Pave Hawk, 87-26011, 55th SOS, Desert Storm, 1991, 1:72, Panzerkampf
The Sikorsky HH-60G Pave Hawk, serial 87-26011, belongs to the first generation of combat rescue helicopters derived from the UH-60 Black Hawk and adapted for combat search and rescue (CSAR) and special operations support missions. Introduced in the late 1980s, the HH-60G incorporated key upgrades such as advanced navigation systems, in-flight refueling capability, and night operations with NVGs, making it an essential platform for personnel recovery missions.
During Operation Desert Storm in 1991, Pave Hawks played a crucial role in recovering downed pilots and isolated personnel behind enemy lines. Aircraft 87-26011, associated with the 55th Special Operations Squadron, was involved in these types of missions in a highly hostile environment, characterized by air defense threats and long-range desert operations.
These missions established the HH-60G as one of the most reliable and versatile rescue helicopters in the United States Air Force, capable of operating day and night under extreme conditions. Its performance during Desert Storm marked the beginning of extensive use in later conflicts, continuing to save lives under the motto “That Others May Live.”
