AV-8B Harrier II Plus Italian Navy, Giuseppe Garibaldi, 1 Grupaper, 1:72, Hobby Master

The Harrier holds the distinction of being the first operational aircraft with V/STOL (Vertical/Short Takeoff and Landing) capability. This performance is made possible by redirecting engine thrust through vectorable nozzles, allowing for either conventional or vertical takeoffs depending on mission requirements. This unique functionality earned it the nickname "jump jet." Throughout its service history, the Harrier has undergone numerous technical upgrades, resulting in several improved variants.
The Italian Navy (Marina Militare Italiana) currently operates a fleet of 16 AV-8B+ Harrier II aircraft, built under license in Italy. This fleet is supplemented by 2 TAV-8Bs used for advanced flight training, along with 3 AV-8 aircraft originally acquired from Boeing (USA) as part of the initial pilot training program in collaboration with the USMC (United States Marine Corps). These aircraft are stationed in Taranto and primarily deployed aboard the aircraft carrier Giuseppe Garibaldi. They are also expected to operate from the forthcoming carrier Luigi Einaudi once it enters active service.
