Republic Yakovlev Yak-9, 1:72, Altaya
The Yakovlev Yak-9 was the most widely produced Soviet fighter aircraft of the Second World War and one of the most important designs developed by the Yakovlev Design Bureau. Derived from the successful Yak-7, the Yak-9 made its maiden flight in 1942 and quickly entered service with the Soviet Air Force, participating in some of the most decisive battles of the Eastern Front. Thanks to its lightweight structure, excellent maneuverability at low and medium altitudes and ease of maintenance, the Yak-9 became one of the preferred fighters of Soviet pilots. The aircraft was produced in numerous variants, including air superiority, long-range escort, ground attack and anti-tank versions. During the Battle of Kursk and the subsequent Soviet offensives, the Yak-9 played a crucial role in restoring Soviet air superiority over the Luftwaffe. A total of 16,769 aircraft were built between 1942 and 1948, making it the most numerous Soviet fighter aircraft of the war.
