Erich von Manstein was one of the leading German field marshals during World War II. He stood out for his strategic ability, particularly for his role in the invasion of France in 1940 and for his campaigns on the Eastern Front. Although he was considered a brilliant commander, his legacy is marked by his involvement within the Nazi regime and his indirect responsibility for war crimes. After the conflict, he was tried, convicted, and released years later.
